Heather honey is a monofloral honey that bees collect from heather blossoms. Heather blooms in late summer and autumn, usually along forest edges, in boggy areas, clearings, and heathlands.
It is one of Latvia’s most expressive honeys, full of character rather than mild and neutral in taste.
In Latvia, heather blooms in August and September, which makes heather honey a late-season honey. This means beekeepers work with it at a time when bee colonies are already beginning to prepare for winter.
Heather honey is usually darker in color, ranging from amber to reddish-brown. It has a strong aroma: floral, forest-like, and sometimes slightly bitter. The taste is intense, sweet, but not simply sweet; it can have notes of slight bitterness, caramel, forest, and herbs. One of its most distinctive features is its thick, jelly-like consistency.
Heather honey is valuable precisely because it is expressive, rich, and relatively rare. It contains the sugars, enzymes, organic acids, minerals, and aromatic compounds naturally found in honey. Compared with lighter honeys, heather honey is often valued for its higher content of minerals and phenolic compounds, which give it a darker color and deeper flavor.

know what you are buying
We carefully select small, independent beekeepers from whom we purchase honey. It is important to us that honey is collected from natural meadows and forests in Latvia, which are not surrounded by crops. This way, we are sure that our packed honey contains nectar from thousands of flowers. Each flower has its energy, value, and beauty, and you can find that all in our honey. The purity and value of honey are tested by performing analysis on at least 10 different indicators.
If you want to see all the analysis reports and get acquainted with their detailed description, you can find them in the section
"MEET OUR BEEKEEPER".
There are a description of honey of this batch, where it came from, who is the Beekeeper who collected it, about bees and of course full analysis reports and their detailed descriptions.
